Carry On Baggage

Each passenger is allowed one (1) personal item and one carry-on bag on all international flights, and domestic flights (excluding Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana and Inagua).

Maximum size: 22″x14″x9″ & 30lbs (13.6kg) FREE

On flights to and from Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana and Inagua one carry-on bag

Maximum weight:  18lbs (8.16 kg) FREE


Checked Baggage

Each checked bag must not exceed 62 inches (157.48 cm) in dimensions (length + breadth + height) & 50 pounds (22.68 kg) in weight.

First Bag: Free

Second Bag: $45.00

Third Bag: $75.00

Fourth Bag (and more each): $125.00


Checked Baggage Excess Charges – International:

Bags greater than 50 pounds (22.68 kilos) & 62 inches

51 – 70lbs (23.13 – 31.75 kg): $75.00

Greater than 70lbs (31.75 kg) & less than 99lbs (44.9 kg): $125.00

Greater than 62″ & 70lbs (32 kg): $150.00

Bags weighing more than 99lbs will not be accepted.

NOTE: All televisions checked in will be subject to charges and are NOT included in the free baggage allowance. The following charges will apply:

Up to 32” screen: $50.00

33” – 45” screen: $75.00

46” – 54” screen: $100.00

Up to 55” screen: $125.00


Checked Baggage Excess Charges – Domestic & Turks and Caicos:

Free baggage allowance policy is: two bags restricted to a combined weight of 44lbs (19.96 kg) and total circumference not greater than 62″ (width + height + breadth)

Allowable Bag greater than 62″: $65.00

Allowable Bag greater than 44lbs: $65.00

Third Bag or More under 44lbs: $50.00

Free baggage allowance policy is: two bags restricted to a combined weight of 44lbs

Note: All Domestic Excess Charges incur a 12%VAT charge.


Havana, Cuba

Each checked bag must not exceed 62 inches (157.48 cm) in dimensions (length + breadth + height) & 50 pounds (22.68 kg) in weight.

Checked bags are limited to 3 pieces per passenger. 


Checked Baggage Excess Charges – Havana

NOTE:  All passenger’s checked bags destined for Havana via Nassau will be subject to a surcharge if the checked piece is a Television. The following charges will apply:

Up to 32” screen: $100.00

33” – 45” screen: $125.00

46” – 54” screen: $150.00

Up to 55” screen: $175.00


Sporting Equipment and Special Pieces (must be properly packaged)

BICYCLE: $125.00

Bicycles will be accepted in a hard-sided, padded case designed for bicycles. If not in a hard-sided case, bikes will be accepted with the handle bars secured sideways and pedals removed. The bicycle must also be encased in plastic foam, a cardboard box, or similar material to prevent damage.

SURFBOARD: Treated as a checked bag. One surfboard per case up to 8 feet in length; except items weighing more than ninety-nine pounds (99lbs /44.9 kg) will not be accepted as checked baggage. We recommend that surfboards travel in a hard-sided (rather than soft-sided) case to prevent damage.See checked bag policy above.

WINDSURF BOARD: Treated as a checked bag. One windsurfing board with an aluminum (or similar type material) wishbone style boom, one mast with a maximum length of 8 feet, one sail. Items weighing more than ninety-nine pounds (99lbs/44.9 kg) will not be accepted as checked baggage.See checked bag policy above.

KITESURF BOARD: Treated as a checked bag. Kite Surfing and Windsurfing boards, when properly packed to prevent damage to the board, sail, boom, related equipment and to other baggage, are accepted upon payment of applicable fee. Items weighing more than ninety-nine pounds (99lbs) will not be accepted as checked baggage.See checked bag policy above.

Archery Equipment, Backpack/Knapsack, Boogie / Skim / Speed Boards, Bowling Balls, Camping Equipment, Fishing Gear, Golf Clubs, Oars, Scuba Gear (without tanks), Skateboard, Tennis Rackets, Tent/Sleeping Bag: Treated as a checked bag and must be properly packed. Items over 99lbs will not be accepted. See checked bag policy above.

Shooting Equipment: Treated as a checked bag and must be properly packed in suitable hard case. Soft cases are NOT ACCEPTED. Items over 99lbs will not be accepted. See checked bag policy above. Ammunition must not exceed 11 lbs (5kg), and current firearm license must be presented at check.

HOCKEY/LACROSSE: Treated as a checked bag. One hockey stick and one hockey bag count as one piece.

HOVERBOARDS: NOT ACCEPTED

STYROFOAM COOLERS: NOT ACCEPTED. Perishables (seafood, poultry, meats, etc.) will ONLY be accepted in hard impenetrable coolers.

COOLER BAGS: Only accepted if contents are free of possible leakage. Bag must not contain seafood, poultry, meats, ice, or leak able liquids of any kind.

NOTE: All Domestic Excess Charges incur a 12%VAT charge.

Bahamasair will refund fees charged to a passenger for optional services that the passenger was unable to use due to irregular circumstances, i.e. flight cancellation, etc.)
