Assisting Mothers With Young Children

Mothers traveling with infants or young children will be assisted in embarking, disembarking and clearance of Government formalities.  Agents will assist with the hand baggage.  Suitable baby strollers or carts may be provided at stations where passengers may have considerable distance to walk to/from the aircraft.

Unaccompanied Minors

  • Unaccompanied service is required for all children age 5-14 traveling without an adult age 18 or over.
  • Reservations and Sales agents must obtain the following information while confirming a booking for an unaccompanied minor:

a)     The name of the person bringing the child to the airport

b)    The home telephone number and address of this person

c)     The name of the person meeting the child at destination

d)    The business and home telephone numbers and home addresses of the person.

  • Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted for the last flight of the day.
  • Reservations and Sales agents must inform the parent or guardian making the reservations of the Company’s policy which calls for an identification badge to be placed on the child, and that he/she must not leave the aircraft without the escort of a Bahamasair agent.
  • The applicable charges will be added to the base fare.
  • The adult presenting the child for check-in at the airport must complete and sign the Unaccompanied Minor Request for Carriage form, and be expected to remain at the airport until the flight departs.
  • The check-in agent will place an unaccompanied minor tag on the child, instruct him/her not to remove the tag and ensure that the child is properly supervised until handed over to the Cabin Attendant.
  • Unaccompanied Minors will be boarded prior to the start of general boarding and identified to the Flight Attendant as an unaccompanied minor.
  • Unaccompanied minors will be seated so as to be in direct view of the cabin attendant at all times.
  • The child must be escorted off the aircraft by a Cabin Attendant and released to a Customer Services Agent.
  • The Customer Services Agent will ensure that the person collecting the child produces positive identification and sign a release form.
